Musiquest was created
in 2004 by Ian Booth, musician, teacher and world music enthusiast,
with a mission to bring high quality music services to schools,
colleges and individuals.
Ian has a background in professional music, as a multi-instrumental
performer and studio engineer, developing a career in private tuition
prior to his recent work as a school music specialist.
Ian is also an accredited teacher with
the new NE Lincolnshire Music Partnership delivering Wider
Opportunities music in several schools. He also works on special
projects with Artworks
www.artworksbradford.org.uk and Kala Sangam
www.kalasangam.org.
His interest in world music genres began when Indian classical music,
along with the rhythms of Africa and Latin America began to influence
the sound of contemporary pop and jazz. Later, whilst studying for
LTCL and FTCL Diplomas from Trinity College of Music, Ian began to see
the huge potential of world music as an educational resource.
During his time as a specialist teacher, Ian has researched and
intensively developed material sourced from many parts of the world.
This material has been thoroughly tested in a wide range of teaching
situations, and is the foundation of Musiquest workshops.
More recently, Ian has made a contribution to local broadcasting;
compiling and presenting “ World Waves,” a weekly programme on
BCB 106.6 FM,
Bradford’s Sony Award winning community radio station.
With the creation of Musiquest, Ian’s experiences as teacher,
performer and composer can be effectively combined to ensure high
quality learning in a stimulating environment.
Musiquest workshops
are now firmly established as among the country's finest, giving
students a memorable musical experience and a valuable insight into
world cultures.
